Official Resolution
In Loving Remembrance
and Honor of
Mrs. Martha E. Standifer
WHEREAS, Almighty God, in His infinite wisdom, has called from labor to reward our beloved Mrs. Martha E. Standifer, the devoted wife of our Founder; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Martha E. Standifer stood faithfully beside her husband, Mr. G. Van Standifer, during the establishment of the Midnight Basketball League Program™s, founded in Glenarden, Maryland — lending her unwavering love, strength, and encouragement to both him and the mission of the organization; and
WHEREAS, even after the passing of her husband in 1992, Mrs. Martha E. Standifer continued to champion the vision of the Midnight Basketball League Program™, actively supporting its leadership, growth, and impact in communities nationwide; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Martha E. Standifer was often present at AMB events, gatherings, and chapter milestones — a quiet and steadfast presence whose devotion to the mission never wavered across more than four decades of AMB history; and
WHEREAS, her life — spanning 91 years from January 1, 1934 to 2025 — was a testament to faithfulness, love, family, and service; a life that touched all who had the privilege of knowing her; and
WHEREAS, the Association of Midnight Basketball recognizes that the legacy of the Midnight Basketball League Program™ is inseparable from the strength, sacrifice, and love of the families who stood behind its leadership — and none more so than Mrs. Martha E. Standifer.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Association of Midnight Basketball:
First
That the Association of Midnight Basketball extends its deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the family of Mrs. Martha E. Standifer — her children, grandchildren, and all those who loved and were loved by her.
Second
That the Association of Midnight Basketball formally acknowledges and honors the immeasurable contribution of Mrs. Martha E. Standifer to the founding, growth, and enduring legacy of the Midnight Basketball League Program™.
Third
That this Resolution be spread upon the permanent records of the Association of Midnight Basketball as a lasting tribute to a woman whose quiet strength helped build a movement that has transformed thousands of lives across the United States.
Fourth
That a copy of this Resolution be presented to the family of Mrs. Martha E. Standifer as a symbol of the love, gratitude, and eternal respect that the Association of Midnight Basketball holds for her memory and her legacy.
